Fundamental Factors Topped the List as Drivers of Performance Last Week

In our factor scoring work we noticed that fundamental factors had a good week last week as they occupied 8 of the top 10 most significant factors in determining one week performance. Macro factors (bonds, to be specific) still held onto the 2 and 3 slots, but the week was definitely won by the fundamentals. If the trend continues it bodes well for stock pickers and others who have been frustrated by the market’s seemingly singular focus on macro variables over the last several years.
