Recruit Group delivers the digital meeting spaces of choice for matching individuals and business clients. Founded in 1960, in Tokyo, Japan, the firm’s first project launched a job-hunting magazine that created an open job market connecting new college graduates with corporations. Since then, the firm has brought together individuals and companies through its worldwide employment matching services and solutions for over 60 years.

Today, Recruit serves the human resources community in more than 60 countries. In 2012, Recruit acquired Indeed, marking the company’s entry into the HR technology business, and then in 2018 it acquired Glassdoor, expanding its online database into user reviews that bring transparency to the job-seeking process. The acquisitions expanded Recruit’s global reach to staffing businesses in the US, Europe, Australia and beyond.

The majority of its R&D spending goes toward development of the firm’s human resources technology, a suite of digital HR software tools for enhancing the hiring process including cloud-based digital assessment, interviewing, and hiring tools, and even extending to lifestyle resources like housing and transportation.

The firm calls its innovation strategy the “Ribbon Model.” By creating a common platform for connecting business owners and individuals, Recruit seeks to make the best matches to mutually benefit both parties, seeing its role as tying the ribbon that connects the two. Recruit Group employs about 47,000 employees worldwide.
