Now branded as LP Building Solutions, the company formerly known as Louisiana-Pacific is a global leader of engineered wood products for building homes. Its biggest and fastest-growing product lines are called SmartSide and Oriented Strand Board, both panels for siding and sheathing in new home construction. LP aims to innovate building materials to reduce construction costs, minimize waste, increase energy efficiency and foster safe home environments, and these two lines illustrate that commitment. OSB, for example, is a wood panel with strands of thermal and waterproof adhesives blended in cross-directional layers throughout to create strong, durable panels protected from the elements.

Founded in 1973 in Portland, Oregon, the firm now is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, with 25 plants across the U.S., Canada, Chile and Brazil. For the last 40 years, the firm’s core innovation strategy has been to engineer toward the future of building with a focus on developing stronger, longer lasting products that protect the environment. LP is committed to the sustainable sourcing of wood with minimal waste, local community support and safety for workers.

As of 12/31/20, LP Building Solutions was not held in the Knowledge Leaders Strategy.
